Frequently, what we emphasize
in the classroom connects very
directly to what we do in our
own studios. To that end, this
brochure offers three lenses for
viewing the work in For Example:
Technique, Concept, and Outside
Influence. ... While these and
other aspects are present in each
piece, the artists’ statements are
an invitation to look more closely
at select thoughts, issues and
generating forces behind the
work.

For Example
2003

Guest curated show of 30 faculty who teach
in the foundation year at California College
of the Arts. Exhibited in a gallery off-campus
the show served to link the school with the
public and the classroom with the gallery.

The list of artist comments on their work
according to one of the ‘lenses’ was
accompanied by a map offering distinct
conceptual excursions.
